As we were all vividly reminded during the 2013 flood, true Calgarians are generous in nature and refuse to be indifferent when their community faces tough times. And when vulnerable members of that community need a helping hand, the YWCA of Calgary is there to provide support, hope and empowerment to women and their families. But they can’t do it without your support… and your spare change.
#BuckUpYYC encourages Calgarians to make easy, no-pressure, low-dollar donations (think $1, $2, $5 or more) that will have a powerful impact. You’ll find #BuckUpYYC being promoted by helpful offices, retailers and restaurants. But if you don’t come across the #BuckUpYYC campaign in person, it’s easy-peasy to make an online donation.
“But what can such a small amount of money do?”. You might be surprised…
$2 enables each new client who arrives at YWCA Mary Dover House to sleep on clean sheets.$5 contributes to families creating strong connections and healthy relationships through YWCA Parent Link Corridor.$10 enables the YWCA Sheriff King Home emergency shelter to purchase medical and first aid supplies to ensure that their clients are safe and cared for.
And remember, small amounts shared by lots of people just like you really add up.
You never really know who’s in need of a helping hand. Your coworker, the women next to you in line at a cafe, the parent of your child’s best friend; anyone can experience a crisis. And they deserve our support.
