If you’re looking for a story about a fierce female, you won’t want to miss “The Paper Bag Princess” presented by Carousel Theatre for Young People! Adapted by Alissa Watson, Robert Munsch’s iconic story demonstrates the power of persistence and quick thinking when Princess Elizabeth’s beloved, Ronald, is kidnapped by a dragon.  Best suited for ages 3+, audiences can see “The Paper Bag Princess” on stage at The Waterfront Theatre from April 22 to May 10, 2026.

Prince Ronald is everything Elizabeth dreams of, but when a dragon bursts into the castle and steals him away, leaving the kingdom (and her clothes) torched, she must come up with a plan to get him back. Elizabeth secures a very (un)fashionable paper bag, adjusts her crown, and sets off on an adventure to save Ronald. When she meets the dragon, Elizabeth exemplifies bravery and intelligence as she convinces the dragon to tire itself out so she can safely rescue Ronald. Much to her surprise, Ronald’s attitude toward her clothes and her looks reveals his true personality, and Elizabeth learns that being strong and self-assured is much better than being with a prince after all!
