If you are looking for an enriching, arts-infused Spring Break experience for your child look no further than Arts Umbrella. The 2022 Spring Break Camps provide young people with the opportunity to discover new artistic passions in the disciplines of art, design, dance, theatre, music and film.
Arts Umbrella is the pre-eminent arts educational facility in British Columbia. Since 1979, Arts Umbrella has provided more than 500,000 young Canadians with profound life experiences through their commitment to innovation, excellence, and inclusivity. In April 2021, Arts Umbrella moved into their new home on Granville Island. The 50,000 square-foot building dedicated to arts education for young people features state-of-the-art studio, exhibition, and performance spaces to inspire future generations. Arts Umbrella also supports arts education for families on the east side of the Port Mann Bridge with their satellite location in South Surrey.
In the Arts Umbrella School of Art & Design, young artists learn art may take many forms: sculpture, animation, painting, model, movies, photos, design, and more. The artist-instructors bring professional-level instruction and supply participants with high-quality materials in every class. The 2022 Spring Break camps include: Architecture (ages 6-8, 9-12 years), Cartooning (ages 6-8, 9-12 years), Clay Sculpture (ages 5-6, 6-8, 9-12 years), Drawing, Painting, and Printmaking (ages 5-6, 6-8, 9-12 years), Kid Tech (ages 6-8 years), and Mixed Media (ages 5-6, 6-8, 9-12 years).
Arts Umbrella’s Theatre, Music & Film programs have young performers getting hands-on with costumes, improv, script work, character studies, and theatrical performances. Renowned theatre, film, and television artists guide students through collaborative and solo theatre exercises to teach timing, memorization, melody, harmony, and bodily self-awareness. Some of the camps also provide exposure to the technical aspects of theatre: lighting, sound, costumes, and makeup. The 2022 Spring Break camps include: Creative Drama (ages 5-6 years), Acting (ages 6-8 years), Musical Theatre (ages 6-8, 9-12 years), Film Acting and Making Immersion (ages 6-8, 9-12 years), Voiceover and Animation Immersion (ages 6-8, 9-12 years), and Stagecraft (ages 6-8, 9-12, 12-16 years).
