Morning in Maple Ridge

Posted on: March 12, 2013

We have two favourite haunts in Maple Ridge: Big Feast and Maple Ridge Park.  Every few weeks either my husband or I wake up with the desire for a Big Feast breakfast.  He is keen on the green eggs and ham; I love the spinach eggs benny (with yummy artichoke

I’m Envious: Home & Garden Show

Posted on: February 23, 2013

I wanted to bring everything we saw at the BC Home & Garden Show home with us.  Sadly that isn’t allowed, nor is it possible!  There are more than 400 retailers on site: fireplaces and water fountains; blade-less fans; the BC Hydro SmartReno Home; the list goes on. Upon our

Exceptional Horseback Riding Experience

Posted on: February 11, 2013

We were fortunate to spend our Family Day morning riding horses at A & T Equestrian in Surrey.  What an experience! As you pull into the gravel parking lot, you quickly learn this is a place that LOVES animals.  They are everywhere and every one we met was incredibly friendly.

Listening at the VSO Kids Koncert

Posted on: February 11, 2013

The Vancouver Symphony Orchestra’s Kids’ Koncert, “The Listener”, did not disappoint yesterday.  The performance did a phenomenal job of combining laugh-out-loud entertainment and indescribably beautiful music.  We were enchanted. As usual we prepped our 2 & 4 year old boys on what to expect: orchestral music and clowns.  They were

Outdoor Skating Fun

Posted on: February 9, 2013

The skating arena at Robson Square gives us Vancouverites a glimmer of what the rest of Canada takes for granted: the ability to skate outdoors in the winter.  It is an iconic Canadiana experience which you can get for FREE here in balmy Vancouver (balmy in comparison to the intense

On yet another rainy Vancouver weekend my family and I were looking for an interesting, indoor, activity.  Somehow in my 36 years of living in Vancouver/Lower Mainland I had yet to walk through the doors of the H.R. MacMillan Space Centre.  I’ve finally righted that wrong.  Such fun! Upon walking

Yummy Yummy Street Food

Posted on: January 26, 2013

We braved the wind, rain and cold to enjoy FANTASTIC food at Street Food City II.  Our little ones weren’t entirely convinced that eating outside in the inclement weather was the best of ideas.  However, once we piled them with the warm tummy-filling delights they were happy clams! This is

Fascinating Beaty Biodiversity Museum

Posted on: January 20, 2013

This morning we took our boys to the Beaty Biodiversity Museum at UBC. We have been meaning to take our children out to UBC, as that is where my husband and I met. While the boys found the idea of mom and dad meeting rather funny, they were fascinated by

Quiet Granville Island

Posted on: January 6, 2013

Quiet Granville Island. For the majority of weekends that statement is an oxymoron; however, on a rainy Sunday in January we discovered exactly that. We had Granville Island almost entirely to ourselves, what a treat! Now is the time of the year to visit, there are no tourists just Vancouverites

Foot-tapping White Christmas musical | Vancouver

Posted on: December 16, 2012

We established a new tradition in our family today – the Arts Club production of White Christmas, the musical.  I have always been a huge fan of the movie and was worried the stage production just wouldn’t match up.  My fears were ill-placed.  The Arts Club’s White Christmas was magical.
