Camp Qwanoes is the pinnacle of summer time fun! Think back to your perfect summer memory – warm sun, oodles of friends, exciting adventures, freedom – that’s exactly what your child will experience when you sign them up for Camp Qwanoes.
2020 was a very different summer – Qwanoes did all they could to adapt around the COVID guidelines, adding things like day camps, livestreams, and more. At the start of 2021 they harnessed their brilliant, creative, problem-solving minds and launched the Mainland Express so that campers could still get to camp for at least a day!
The organizers are offering a jam-packed, adventure-filled day for kids living in Metro Vancouver that still ensures the kids are back home at the end of the day. There are FORTY-FIVE Mainland Express dats scheduled for the 2021 summer. Book your child for one or two Mainland Express Days; it will be a summer experience they’ll never forget.
On May 27 Dr Bonnie Henry announced that overnight camps could happen and Qwanoes had been ready and waiting! This means that in summer 2021 you could choose a one-day Mainland Express experience OR a full-overnight week-long camp! Qwanoes says that overnight camp space will be limited due to COVID-19 restrictions.
Here’s how a Mainland Express day works:
- Meet the Camp Qwanoes leaders at the Tsawwassen Ferry Terminal at 7am
- Take the 7:45am ferry to Duke Point in Nanaimo
- Ride the camp bus to Qwanoes for a day filled with unforgettable fun and adventure
- Catch the 8:15pm ferry from Duke Point
- Arrive back in Tsawwassen at 10:15pm
Each Mainland Express experience will include a visit to Qwanoes Beach, the Challenge course, All Star Games, the Tuck Shop, a land activity, and Q-Town (with the Qwanoes band and speaker). Campers need to bring their own bag lunch, but dinner will be provided.
How To Choose Your Day (or TWO Days!): Mainland campers are invited to experience one or two Mainland Express days in summer 2021. The second day could be the same or a different week. Choose a day according to the age range each week.
Cost: $101 plus GST includes EVERYTHING…bus and ferry transportation, camp activities, dinner, staff supervision, and a day full of energy and fun! You may also want to bring some money for the camp stores like Ice Cream Island, the Tuck Shop or Beach Betty’s!
Groups Of 10: All campers are placed into groups of 10 at camp based on their age. As specified by the Day Camp Guidelines approved by the Provincial Health Officer, these groups will stay together all day and they will not integrate with other groups.
Ages: Some weeks Mainland Express is offered for ages 8 (or turning 8 by Dec. 31) to 12, some weeks Mainland Express is offered for ages 12 to 16. All of the details are explained in the chart below.
As you can imagine, the Mainland Express days are going to be wildly popular, and, in fact, are already starting to fill up! Hop online and register your child(ren) now for an unforgettable summer experience at Camp Qwanoes.
