Consider yourself one of the gang when you see the iconic “Oliver Jr.” presented by the incredible cast of local actors that make up the Delta Youth Theatre. Lionel Bartel’s adaptation of the classic tale “Oliver Twist” roars to life on the Equinox Theatre stage from November 29 – December 8th.

In this quintessential feel-good holiday show, young Oliver Twist is an orphan searching for love and a family, but he finds himself in a series of unfortunate circumstances. Forced to work in a dirty workhouse, Oliver leaves to apprentice with an undertaker and when that doesn’t work out, he escapes and finds acceptance and a makeshift family with a band of roving pickpockets. Under the guidance of the untrustworthy Fagin, Oliver’s connection to his fellow groupmates feeds his need for connection and family until he is mistakenly apprehended for a crime he did not commit. When the benevolent Mr. Brownlow takes him in, Oliver finally feels like he has found the acceptance he so desperately desires and that he can leave his pickpocketing days behind. Will this new family be forever? Or will seedy characters from his past reemerge to spoil his new fortune?

A pre-professional youth theatre program, Delta Youth Theatre is an ensemble of dedicated students primarily from Vancouver, Richmond and South Delta who learn from professionals in a focused and supportive environment.
