When kids see that big silver dome coming into view, they know that a full day of fun and learning is about to happen at Science World! This summer, your child will keep their hands busy and their mind fully engaged as they learn about the human body, explore the world around them, and perform totally amazing experiments along the way at Science World Summer Camps! A summer filled with learning is a summer well spent, and Science World knows how to keep kids fully engaged. In fact, Summer Camps at Science World are so popular that they have added two NEW and exciting options for families: Field Science Camps and Surrey Pop Up Camps! Keep reading to learn more about each.
Science World Summer Camps:
With the rise of robotics and AI, it’s even more important than ever to explore and celebrate what makes humans…human! This summer, Science World Summer Camps are all about Amazing Humans – what our incredible bodies can do, how our minds formulate thoughts and solve problems, and the unbelievable achievements of humans past and present. These camps are for everybody to foster curiosity, creativity, and connection.
Campers entering Grades 1 – 8 will spend the week engaging in interactive learning about human biology, including how muscles, bones, and organs work together, how brains process information, and about biotechnology and bioengineering. Each week-long camp includes live science shows, demonstrations, and hands-on workshops. Of course, no camp is complete without fun camp games! Whether you have a future doctor on your hands or a curious kid who loves to learn, Science World Summer Camps ensure everybody has a blast.
The theme of each age group varies, but each week features the same exciting activities:
Little Wonders (Grade 1 – born in 2020): Movement is the name of the game in this camp as Little Wonders wiggle, jiggle, and learn what makes our bodies go!
Bright Sparks (Grade 2 & 3 – born in 2018 & 2019): Emerging scientists will uncover brilliant inventions, unbelievable discoveries, and the amazing humans behind the most important developments.
Curious Creators (Grade 4 & 5 – born in 2016 & 2017): What sets humans and AI apart? Creativity, of course! During these weeklong camps, Curious Creators will express their creativity through hands-on experiments, building, and discovery.
Future Innovators (Grade 6, 7 & 8 – born 2013 to 2015): Investigate where humans began in order to see where we might be going in this riveting camp! Future Innovators will decode DNA, trace the evolutionary journey of humans, and explore what biotechnology in the future might be able to accomplish.
Field Science Camps:
Explore the world beyond the doors of Science World with this new and exciting camp for kids! Each day, campers will be dropped off and picked up at Science World, but beyond that, they are out exploring, learning, and getting a taste of what it’s like to be a ‘field scientist’ who takes their lab on the road! False Creek is the perfect launch pad for young scientists to explore natural ecosystems, urban green spaces, shoreline habitats, key points of interest, and the popular Ken Spencer Science Park! Along the way, young scientists will conduct hands-on exploration using test kits, a magnifying glass, binoculars, and other key tools to test water samples, study creature habitats, and record their data in notebooks!
Campers are grouped by age to ensure optimal learning: Bright Sparks (entering grades 2 & 3) and Curious Creators (entering grades 4 & 5). 5-day camps run from July 6 to August 28, with two exceptions of 4-day camps to account for statutory holidays. Field Camps run from 8:30 AM – 3:00 PM (or until 4pm with Stay and Play). Learn more here.
Surrey Pop Up Science Camps:
Bring Science World close to home! Experience the hands-on, interactive learning that Science World is known for in your own backyard. With experienced instructors at the helm, campers will explore their surroundings, participate in exciting experiments, learn how to detect and decode clues around them, and record data. This summer, two different Science curriculums are being held in Surrey schools. Primary Science is for students entering Grades 1 – 3, while Intermediate Science is for students entering Grades 4 – 6.
Surrey Pop Up Camps run from 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM at the following locations: Harold Bishop Elementary, Coast Meridian Elementary, and A.H.P. Matthew Elementary. Click here to see dates.
