As parents and guardians, we all want our kids to be happy, confident, and feel successful in school, and West Coast Centre for Learning knows how to engage kids in meaningful learning that lasts. Summer is an exciting time for many, but a change or lack of routine for neurodivergent children and their families can pose significant challenges to getting back on track with learning in the Fall. Summer Camps at West Coast Centre for Learning bridge the gap between the success achieved in the previous school year and beginning strong in September, and are available for kids and youth ages 6 – 18.

At West Coast Centre for Learning, the camps are specifically designed for neurodivergent children with autism, ADHD, and learning differences to provide a safe and supportive summer experience with their unique learning profile and style of learning at the forefront of the camp experience. Led by experienced and educated facilitators, students will strengthen their executive functioning skills and build social and emotional skills. With increased confidence in their abilities, students will develop greater independence and build lasting friendships and social connections.

The Key to Success

The facilitators at West Coast Centre for Learning are experts in supporting neurodiverse children and their families, and understand that success requires structure, predictable routines, and plenty of flexibility to meet learners where they’re at. Summer camps are meant to be fun, and that is the basis for what kids need to develop key skills. With small group sizes, instructors get to know their groups’ needs and can adapt their approaches and tune in to what each child or teen needs for success. Parents are key partners in the learning process, with daily debriefs on camp activities and progress so families can reinforce new skills at home — because learning lasts when it extends beyond the camp setting. Campers feel welcomed, supported, and understood in a way they may not experience throughout the year in traditional classrooms or standard summer camp options available. BC Autism Funding is accepted at West Coast Centre for Learning, and the process is made simple for families.

Summer Camp Options

Check out the fun and accessible summer camp options offered this summer. With different themes and levels for all ages, even teens who are often aged out of the summer camp experience can find an engaging and developmentally appropriate option to connect with peers. Siblings and neurotypical children are welcome and encouraged to enroll as well, as the skills taught are appropriate and necessary for every child and youth. Most camps are half-days, meaning families can register for multiple camps to build skills across different areas.

Secret Agent Society® Social and Emotional Skills Summer Camp | Ages 6 – 12
Kids will take on the role of a secret agent this summer to uncover clues and complete missions that support skill-building, emotional regulation, friendship-building, and confidence. Through games, teamwork, outdoor play, and creative pursuits, campers will have a blast boosting their skills through fun activities!

PEERS Friendship Skills Summer Camp | Ages 6 – 9
Making and building strong friendships doesn’t come naturally to all children, and that can leave them feeling confused and lacking confidence. In this camp, kids will learn the specific skills and building blocks to maintain lasting friendships through plenty of playtime, games, and teamwork challenges that provide step-by-step guidance on being a good friend.

Executive Function Skills Summer Camp | Ages 10 – 12 & 13 – 15
Strong executive functioning skills are the building blocks of success, but for neurodivergent children and their families, this can be a significant challenge and source of stress. In this camp, kids will tackle a fun, project-based task that requires all the skills they find tricky – time management, organization, and independence – and develop each of those skills in clear, structured ways to help them achieve success. They will learn practical strategies that go beyond the camp experience and can be used at home and in school to help them feel more confident.

THRIVE ADHD + Me Summer Camp | Ages 9 – 13 & 14 – 18
Living with ADHD means that movement is crucial for supporting strong neural connections and regulation throughout the day. This fun and engaging movement-based camp will show kids and teens how to channel their energy, build self-awareness, and understand how their brain works and what it needs through structured games, activities, and outdoor play.

Social Emotional Learning Through Drama | Ages 6 – 9 & 10 – 12
Role-playing, games, and having fun are the building blocks of social-emotional learning at this drama-based summer camp! Here, campers will develop communication, teamwork, empathy, and social awareness through storytelling, improvisation, and role-playing as they step into the shoes of another. Expect plenty of laughter and learning along the way!
