Bring on summer! The Museum of Surrey is inviting you and your family to join them with a FREE family-friendly event to kick off summer in Surrey!

On June 25, from 1 – 4 pm, the Family Kickoff to Summer event, SENSES, offers up hands-on fun and activities both inside and outside the museum. Community partners, including Canucks Autism Network, City of Surrey Accessibility, Historic Stewart Farm, Surrey Knights, Surrey Nature Centre, Surrey RCMP – Diversity Services, Surrey United Soccer and TD Bank Group, will host the family-friendly activities.

Check out just some of the family-fun planned for June 25:

  • the museum’s mascot Raj the Raccoon
  • blow bubbles
  • have a caricature made
  • explore the galleries
  • make crafts
  • there’s even an opportunity to win a prize!
  • for those wanting a quieter space, visit the Sensory Friendly Room upstairs to borrow a Sensory Kit and have fun with beach-themed sensory bins

If you haven’t spent time at the Museum of Surrey you are missing out. We recently went for a visit and were blown away by this hidden gem in the heart of Cloverdale. We absolutely love their current exhibit, Untangling Textiles, and our kids also loved the TD Explore Zone, as well as the current Inspiration X display of action figures and movie souvenirs. And in case you weren’ aware, the Museum of Surrey is FREE to visit whenever they are open!

SENSES - A Family Kickoff to SummerIn August of 2019 Museum of Surrey launched a new sensory-friendly initiative. In partnership with the Canucks Autism Network (CAN), the Museum of Surrey now offers sensory-friendly hours from 10 a.m. to noon on the first Sunday of each month. The Museum dims the lights and turns down the volume to make the space more accessible. The next Sensory Sunday event is on July 3.
