It’s never too early to secure your spot in an academically enriching class for your kids that will take them to new heights and unlock their inner genius. At Spirit of Math, students are encouraged to pursue their learning in subjects not often covered in traditional school classes and to dive deeper into their learning using a combination of critical and creative problem-solving. Spirit of Math is an exclusive after-school private school, and is best suited for high-performing and highly motivated students with an overall average of B+ or higher.
Classes at Spirit of Math are ideal for students in grades 2-9. With three locations in Metro Vancouver, students enrolled in classes can choose from Spirit of Math programs, Spirit of English programs, or register for the Competitive Contest Team. If your child loves math, classes at Spirit of Math will help them dive deeper into the subject matter. For example, Grade 2 and 3 students will hone their problem-solving skills working with consecutive number problems, counting shapes, and integers– to name a few! Students looking for additional enrichment will love learning about Cartesian axes, the Tower of Hanoi, and the Fibonacci Sequence. In fact, in just 90 minutes of class time, students will cover more curricular content than what is covered in a whole week of school classes!
Similar to the enriching Math curriculum, students enrolled in the Spirit of English program are ones who want to be challenged and are passionate about reading, writing and presenting. In these classes, which run at both the West Vancouver and the Vancouver locations, students will work on drills, improve their grammar and expression, and complete independent work projects that demonstrate their creativity and analytical skills. These classes are best suited for students in grades 3 & 4 who are looking to boost their already strong skills by taking on additional challenges.
In Spirit of English classes, students will participate in weekly drills, which include Treasure Hunt Drill, Spelling Drill, and Cursive Writing Drills. Students in grade 3 will read and discuss Mary Poppins, while those in grade 4 will read The Mysterious Benedict Society. Spirit of English students will also present their ideas and engage in creative expression, and hone their writing skills by practicing different genres of writing and memorizing various genres.
Finally, if your child is already at the top of their class and wants to get to the top of the nation and compete against others, they can apply to be part of the Competitive Contest Team. This team is comprised of the top 6-12 students per grade level and competes in contests at the national and international level, representing the Spirit of Math school.
Registration is now open for 2025/2026 classes. Enrolling today ensures your child can secure their spot before the rush of last-minute registration later in the summer. With in-person classes at two locations in Vancouver and one in Richmond, in addition to online learning options, students and families can make a choice that best fits their schedule.
