Springfree TrampolineMy four-year old doesn’t walk, he bounces. Everywhere! He is a wiggly little worm with energy that could rival the Energizer Bunny. For over a year we’ve had a small 3ft square trampoline in our family room. So lovely (ugh!). Multiple times a day our 4 year old bounces, hops, flips on this tiny trampoline. It has worked wonders on the rainy days when riding bikes was not a viable option. I’ve expressed my gratitude to that trampoline on many occasions.

But let’s be honest, that trampoline is a disaster waiting to happen (not to mention a colossal eye-sore). Imagine the delight expressed (screamed) by everyone when a Springfree trampoline joined our family.

Springfree trampolines are like no trampoline you have experienced before. Doesn’t everyone have a horror story about a childhood injury caused by either launching off, or falling through the springs, of a trampoline? I know my right knee still likes to remind me of a disasterous interaction from many moons ago. Fear not, the Springfree trampoline is NOTHING like the old-school trampoline. Dr Keith Alexander, a father and engineer, completely re-designed the old-school version and created the brilliant Springfree trampoline.

There are literally no springs. It is at this point my understanding of physics comes to a screeching halt. Somehow the brilliant Dr Alexander created a bouncy contraption that has no springs. And the Springfree trampoline is bouncy, super bouncy! My Tigger-esque four-year old is an expert in bouncing and if the Springfree trampoline didn’t pass the muster he’d be the first to express his displeasure (loudly).

The pulled fiberglass rods are located under the bouncing surface. There is no way little legs can slip between the rods. Springfree trampolines all come with a cage. I didn’t realize the importance of the cage until I saw my two boys on the trampoline. They are crazy! The number of times the mesh cage has literally caught them, saved them from falling head first onto the ground is incredible. A new favourite game for our boys is racing from one side of the trampoline to the other, launching full force into the cage. They saw this video and decided to make a game of it.

While most adults look at a trampoline as a form of exercise, kids see so many more possibilities. During this crazy heat wave, our kids dragged the sprinkler under the trampoline. The water mists up through the mesh floor allowing them to jump for hours (literally) despite 35 degree temperatures. Countless stuffies have been dragged from bedrooms and loaded into the trampoline for a massive game of “popcorn”. Sidewalk chalk has been used to create the bounciest game of hopscotch I’ve ever seen. Basketball, ring around the rosie, and so many more games are played daily on our Springfree trampoline.

We have had our trampoline for two weeks yet still, every morning, the first words out of our boys’ mouths aren’t “good morning” they are “can I go bounce?”. The Springfree trampoline is silent; there are no squeaking springs. Our boys, who get up at the crack of ridiculous, can go outside and jump to their heart’s delight without disturbing the neighbours. Mom may have been known to jump at night when she thinks no one is looking.

Springfree Trampoline FlexrHoopThe Springfree trampoline comes in a variety of sizes; they can truly accommodate any yard size. We have the Large Square and it is fantastic! I highly recommend both the FlexrStep (aka stairs to climb in and out of the trampoline) and the FlexrHoop (aka basketball hoop).

The Springfree trampoline will not disappoint. What parent isn’t looking for ways to burn off their kid’s never-ending energy? What child won’t love the bouncing fun of a Springfree trampoline? My husband and I never thought we would own a trampoline, now we can’t imagine our backyard without one.
