Let’s face it, living in Metro Vancouver means we get used to rain. But when the rain continues for days on end and you’ve exhausted all the indoor playgrounds and home crafts, it’s time to think outside the box. Below we’ve pulled together a list of unique activities that is sure to break up those long rainy weekends.

1. Indoor Gaming Centres

If you or your kids are big gamers, rainy days are the perfect opportunity to try something new. 2. Get Crafty!

Save yourself the time setting up and cleaning up from crafts at home and take your artist to a studio where they can really let their creativity flow. While many of these locations offer specific classes and workshops for kids, some offer drop-in art classes or projects for kids to work on so you can avoid the creative chaos overflowing in your kitchen! 3. Visit a New Museum

4. Catch a Sports Game

Winter is prime hockey time in Canada and we have plenty of exciting teams to watch! Can’t swing the cost of a Canucks ticket? No problem. Check out the Abbotsford Canucks, Vancouver Goldeneyes (Vancity’s FIRST Women’s Hockey team), Langley Rivermen, Vancouver Giants, Coquitlam Express, or the Surrey Eagles. 

5.  Try Your Hand at an Escape Room

Escape rooms can be an incredible bonding experience as you and your kids use your combined critical and creative thinking skills to solve clues in a race against time. If you’re too nervous to try in person, some great digital escape rooms popped up during COVID and can still be accessed online.
