If you’ve ever been to a Teddy Bear Toss, you know that half the fun is selecting a bear (or other stuffed animal) to throw, and the other half of the fun is attempting to actually toss it over the glass onto the ice! I’ve gone to many hockey games with and without kids and hands down, the most popular family-fun events are the theme nights– specifically, the Teddy Bear Toss. This event occurs during December and encourages fans to bring an unwrapped teddy bear or stuffed animal to donate to charity by way of tossing it onto the ice and being scooped up by the players. When to toss the teddy bear varies between leagues and teams; some do one big throw after the second period, while others encourage fans to throw the teddy bears when the home team scores their first goal.
