Alberta Ballet is Canada’s second-largest ballet company, beloved for its delightful, classical repertoire and engaging, contemporary works. Alberta Ballet is renowned for family classics, such as the annual Christmas special, The Nutcracker. They also demonstrate their ingenuity and cultural connection by making ballet relevant to Albertans with such creations as Balletlujah! – a tribute to k.d. lang, and All of Us – The Tragically Hip Ballet. Whether you love the classics, with tutus and tiaras, or prefer your dancing a little edgier and more modern, Alberta Ballet will likely have something for you. The Alberta Ballet runs a full repertoire of shows each season and often has family-friendly options.

“Join us as we journey together into uncharted territories, conquering new dimensions of dance in this annual mixed bill featuring a variety of spectacular creations in one production. ‘As custodians of the art of ballet, we are responsible for keeping it alive and relevant: Alive when we dance the great classics with contemporary flare [sic] and relevant when we propose new aesthetics and new ideas on what ballet has become in our time,’ said Alberta Ballet Artistic Director Jean Grand-Maître. ‘Like an orchestra, we are equally responsible for the great repertoire of the past as well as for the ballets of today and tomorrow.'”

Performed by Alberta Ballet School’s professional division senior students and students from the Alberta Ballet Trainee Program, this performance will keep you on the edge of your seat.
