With Canada Day being on a Wednesday this year, it’s a little harder to get out of the city for a long weekend. But it’s the perfect chance to squeeze in a mini-getaway! Airdrie has SO much going on for Canada Day — it’s perfect for young families wanting the “stay, play, and yay!” experience!
If you’re gearing up for Western fun, the Airdrie Pro Rodeo begins on June 27 and 28, 2026, with the free Rocky View Junior Rodeo starting at 4 PM, for a family-friendly event that’s perfect for little cowboys and cowgirls. Donations support the Airdrie Food Bank. The rodeo continues until Canada Day, with top-level rodeo athletes competing. After each performance, families can stop by the lively beer gardens, where children are welcome until 11 PM. Here you’ll find local entertainment, including Brandon Lorenzo, a high-energy country artist who has earned international recognition for his powerful vocals.
On the last day of the rodeo, it’s time to celebrate Canada Day! It all starts at 10 AM, with the Canada Day Parade on Main Street. This is a favourite for kids who love the colour, music, and excitement! You’ll find the new parade route here. After the parade, grab your Downtown Airdrie Summer Passport. You can keep the fun going with this easy way to explore local shops, collect stamps, and earn prizes.
From there, you’ll want to head to Nose Creek Park for CultureFest. From 11 AM – 6 PM, enjoy live cultural performances, international cuisine, and games at the park.
Of course, there’s only one way to finish Canada Day! Make your way to Chinook Winds Park, where a 20-minute, brilliant and dazzling artistic light performance will light up the sky!
