Our kids have a lot to manage in their world of school, friends, sports, and activities. There are so many ups and downs as parents help navigate emotions and solve problems. It’s a good thing our kids are creative, dramatic, sensitive, fun, and funny! Lean in to positive drama this summer, and help your kids learn to express themselves. Calgary Young People’s Theatre summer drama camps are here to help you out!

Calgary Young People’s Theatre (CYPT) was created to inspire and develop young people in the arts by offering a safe, creative space. Through classes, camps, workshops, and production opportunities, kids and youth can explore the creative arts, learn to express themselves, and develop their potential. CYPT has been providing camps for 30 years, fine-tuning its programs for an amazing experience.

Summer Camps

Professional theatre actors, directors, and playwrights lead the excellent camps at CYPT. These camps are perfect for kids and teens ages 4 – 18 who want to dive into drama and showcase their creativity. There really is something for everyone, from imaginative play creation for little ones to specialty programs for teens. No experience is necessary, and your kids will learn how to act, improvise, create a play, and more.

With locations in Calgary’s NW, SW, and SE, CYPT offers half-day, full-day, and two-week camps. Days are filled with learning various dramatic skills, such as acting, improvisation, and stage combat, as well as creating a play. Each week normally concludes with a fun performance. Check the website to see what Calgary Young People’s Theatre summer camps are offered near you.

What Else?

Calgary Young People’s Theatre also offers an optional lunch/snack program in the full-day camps at the North and South Riverbend locations. It’s just $65/week for 2 snacks and one lunch daily! If you need a longer day, they offer pre-camp care beginning at 8 AM and post-camp care until 5:30 PM at the North, West, and South Riverbend locations. If money is tight this year, there is also a bursary program offering assistance to low-income families, so all kids can participate. (Email camps@cypt.ca to request a bursary application or for more information.)

The curtain is about to rise on a summer of fun, adventure, and excitement! Register today to ensure your child gets to experience all the drama. Wherever your kids’ creative interests lie, it promises to be a fabulous summer. All that’s left is to take the stage!
