This spring and summer, find a new activity that’s a little different! Encorps Winterguard is hosting FREE Discovery Days for your school-age children, filled with fun games, creativity, and teamwork! Kids can get moving in this ‘spin class with a twist’! It’s all about colour and movement and artistry. And, of course, enjoying lively, active fun!

Do you have questions about winterguard? Winterguard is an indoor sport and performance activity, derived from military ceremonies. It involves choreography, dance, and movement, using equipment such as flags. (This is where the ‘spinning’ comes in!) It’s about creative movement to music, and it’s fun for all ages.

Encorps Winterguard was developed by a group of people who had marched in the Calgary drum corps. What started as a way to keep in touch and stay active became an organization for everyone to enjoy. They create theatrical and exciting winterguard programs for all ages and levels, for performance, entertainment, and fun.

Encorps Winterguard Discovery Days

Even if they’ve never heard of winterguard, kids aged 6 – 13 will enjoy a terrific session at Encorps Winterguard Discovery Days! No experience is required, and these classes are FREE, so get ready to enjoy something new. Sessions run on April 26, May 23, July 26, and August 29, 2026, from 1 – 3 PM and June 28, 2026, from 11:30 AM – 1:30 PM.

Kids will explore how to move their bodies at these sessions, building manual dexterity and staying active. They’ll be dancing and stretching, and developing teamwork as they learn choreography together. It’s a wonderful activity, filled with colour, creativity, and laughter.
