The Glenbow’s Summer Programs for children are an opportunity to get an insider’s view of the museum! There are a variety of themed sessions available to let participants explore the museum and learn about the history and culture of Alberta and Canada. The Glenbow’s qualified and enthusiastic Museum Educators will pack each program with lots of amazing information and fun activities. Each session is 1 hour 15 minutes long.
Session Details
Exploring Canadian Landscapes
View art from the Glenbow’s historical collection to discover how artists explored Canada and shared their adventures with the world. Explores will write about and illustrate what they’ve learned from their gallery and art studio experience. Cost: $85 + $6 per person
Welcome, Newcomers!
Rummage through the suitcases of people that came to Alberta to discover how and why they chose to make their homes here. Cost: $75 + $6 per person
Minerals Rock!
Get your hands on rocks and minerals to discover their stories! Participants will learn about streak, lustre, textuire, hardness and crystals and how rocks and minerals are used. Then go on a treasure hunt in the Minerals gallery! Cost: $75 + $6 per person
Knights of Glenbow
Do you have what it takes to be a medieval knight? Travel back in time to learn all about this exiting era in history in the Warriors gallery. Learn sword-fighting moves, try on armour and learn the stories of yore. Cost: $75 + $6 per person
The Blackfoot People Welcome You
Experience the rich cultural traditions of the Blackfoot people and view the world from a different perspective. Explore the First Nations galleries through storytelling, artifacts, games and activities. Discover how the Blackfoot have lived harmoniously with the Earth and its beings for thousands of years. Cost: $75 + $6 per person
Artifact Explorers
Join a Museum Educator to discover treasures from the Glenbow’s collection of artifacts from around the world. Participants will sketch and journal their interpretations of the collection. $60 + $6 per person (note: book this program with any other summer program and the $60 fee is waved)

When: Throughout the summer. You can book for any week, but each session must have a minimum of 5 participants in order to run.
