Summer is the time to head outside, stay active, and enjoy exploring different ways to learn! And if you’ve ever visited Glenbow Ranch Provincial Park, you know it’s your perfect destination for these summer goals. Glenbow Ranch Park Foundation is hosting summer camps at Glenbow Ranch, giving children a chance to get outside, explore, and discover.

The Glenbow Ranch Park Foundation is dedicated to protecting and preserving Glenbow Ranch Provincial Park, a space that has an important heritage and ecological value. Glenbow Ranch Provincial Park was officially created in 2008 and the vision of the foundation is to make the park “one of the most inspiring, accessible and healthy protected urban parks in North America.” With almost 30 km of trails, it is an ideal location to get outside and enjoy the natural world and they offer educational programming, like summer camps, about grasslands, ponds, and archaeology.

Glenbow Ranch summer camps are available weekly all summer long for children ages 6 – 12. Kids will attend camp from 9 am – 4 pm and with six unique camps, there is so much to discover! Do your kids love playing in the water? You’ll definitely want to check out Wild About Wetlands. If your child loves digging in the dirt or is fascinated by the people who came before us, then take a look at Mystery of Archaeology. Or you can send your child on a biking adventure! What camp will your child choose?

Glenbow Ranch Summer Camps

Wild About Wetlands (6 – 8 years): The wetlands are calling! Let’s go! Discover pond critters and wild grasslands and how plants, and animals protect our water supply through hikes, games, pond critter catching, a golf cart tour, and crafts. Become wetland protectors with us!

Bike Glenbow (9 – 12 years): Glenbow Ranch is waiting to be explored! Come and bike the Glenbow pathways while playing games, and learn about how to enjoy the outdoors on two wheels and responsibly take care of our ecosystem at the same time! All campers must bring bikes, bike helmets, water bottles, journals, and a sense of adventure!

Mini Ecologists (6 – 8 years): Every day is an adventure! While we’re exploring local habitats we’ll be on the lookout for birds, bugs, plants, and animal clues. Enjoy hikes, games, indigenous stories, and crafts. Together, we can keep our grasslands healthy for years to come.

Jr. Ecologists (9 – 12 years): Jr. Ecologists uncover science in the ecosystem! We’ll explore the local habitats and discover who lives there. We’ll learn the citizen science of bees and upload our data to scientists to help protect the grasslands! Enjoy critter catching, hikes, games, crafts, and stories.

Mystery of Archaeology (6 – 8 years): Let’s get dirty! Come unearth the hidden stories of this land in a simulated dig site, by handling artifacts, hearing stories passed on by Indigenous friends, hiking, crafting, golf cart touring and discovering a few of our many archaeological sites in the park, some just off the pathway!

Environmental Leadership (9 – 12 years): Discover if you dare – your outdoor skills! Develop personal leadership and outdoor skills by using Glenbow Ranch wilderness as a teacher. Including hiking, games, a golf cart tour, and indigenous knowledge. Dare to leave better than you came.
