Do you relish the fearful and the freaky? Do you want to scare the pants off your teenagers? Haunted Calgary is bringing you a fright to remember this Halloween with a haunted walk-through attraction in the underground parkade at the New Horizon Mall!

Will you scream?

Haunted Calgary is one of the longest-running Halloween attractions in Calgary. They are powered by volunteers, from “Fear Engineers” to the “Scream Team.” They partner with agencies such as Calgary Alpha House Society, Girl Guides of Canada, and the University of Calgary to provide job training and resume-building opportunities that offer hands-on experience. From scary haunted encounters to a Family Frights Thrill Zone featuring bouncy castles, they offer Halloween fun for families of all ages.

What to Expect

With attractions for everyone from kids to adults, your family can choose their level of scare on select afternoons and evenings from October 13 – November 3, 2023. Costumes are welcome, but leave weapons and large or bulky costumes at home. You may have to wait in lines during popular times, as this is a popular attraction but you can also purchase a Fast Pass for quicker entry. Most guests take about 15 – 20 minutes to explore the haunted experience — unless they chicken out!

Head to the Family Frights Thrill Zone for Halloween-themed bouncy castles and games and visit Haunted Calgary during their ‘low-scare’ hours on Saturday and Sunday afternoons from 12 – 4 pm. The Skeletons in Our Closets ‘low-scare’ hours offer a spooky thrill for families, young children, and anyone looking for a haunted experience with no jump scares. This is designed as a sensory-friendly event with softer lighting and audio effects and no strobes and it’s a great way to give kids their first haunted house experience in a positive and fun way. But parents know their kids best. Some scenes may still be too scary or gory and some children may find the experience too intense.

All ages can also enjoy the Monster Mash Memory Parlour (separate tickets required), to take cool photos. It is a “selfie museum” and includes 10 interactive sets. At Haunted Calgary, professional souvenir photos are also available for purchase from Moonlight Photography.

Otherwise, get ready to scream! Teens and adults will want to check out the brand-new, ‘full scare’ edition of the Skeletons in Our Closets! This haunted attraction is recommended for ages 12 and up with over 10,000 square feet of fright and a cast of over 50 actors. Parental discretion is strongly advised, and while not recommended for children, kids are welcome as long as they are accompanied by a parent or guardian.

There will also be special events like Slasher Showdown: The Friday the 13th Massacre. This is a gamified version of the ‘full scare’ attraction where guests must try to survive the 80s-style slashers. Or try Blackout, when the lights go out in the ‘full scare’ attraction and you only have one glowstick per group. Hell Night is Haunted Calgary’s special zombie apocalypse survival game — will you be the last person to survive? These special events have limited tickets and are only available on select nights.
