Step back in time at Heritage Park as you experience living history from the 1950s to the 1860s. Start your visit at one of Calgary’s major attractions with a ride to the Park gates on the historic streetcar then wander through Gasoline Alley Museum to view the spectacular $10 million collection of oil and gas memorabilia. Once through the gates, Heritage Park’s friendly, costumed interpreters and roving townsfolk bring western Canada’s distinctive history to life. Follow the street performers throughout the Park or take a break in the Canmore Opera House and enjoy a thirty-minute musical melodrama, performed each weekend.
Tour the Park on the authentic thundering steam train and stop in at Drew’s Saloon for a drink and a game of cards, or play a game of croquet on the lawn of the Prince House. Hit the open waters on the S.S. Moyie – Calgary’s only steam-driven paddle wheeler. You can also experience the excitement of an antique midway and have a blast exploring almost 200 exhibits and 55,000 artifacts!
Heritage Park Historical Village is open daily from 10 am – 5 pm, from Victoria Day Weekend until Labour Day Weekend then weekends only until Thanksgiving. Gasoline Alley Museum is open daily, year-round (holiday exceptions may apply).
New for 2022: The theme for the park in 2022 is ‘The Way We Played’ celebrating sports throughout the years. The street theatre will present the story of two lacrosse teams battling for the league title through the hot summer sun. You can also enjoy traditional Indigenous games at the Settlement, and try your hand at some lawn games at other locations around the park. And if you haven’t visited Prospect Ridge, you’ll want to head into the mine shafts to see experience the life of a miner or pan for gold and see if you can make your fortune.
There’s always more to discover at Heritage Park, whether you want to pack your day or just relax! The park opens for the season on May 21, 2022.
