What if you could have just one more moment with someone special? Would you take that chance and do whatever was asked of you in order to have that opportunity? This is the premise of Disney’s and Pixar’s new and exciting animated release, ONWARD.
Tom Holland (Spiderman) and Chris Pratt (Peter Quill – Guardians of the Galaxy) provide the voices for two teenage elf brothers, Ian and Barley Lightfoot, who get an unexpected opportunity to spend one more day with their late father. Set in a fantastical world, the two brothers embark on a quest aboard Barley’s van, Guinevere, where they face impossible obstacles, cryptic maps, magic spells and unimaginable discoveries.
The movie boasts a fabulous cast of actors. Julia Loui-Dreyfus voices the boy’s fearless mom (Laurel) and Octavia Spencer voices a part-lion, part-bat, part-scorpian, former warrior known as The Manticore. (I am trying to picture this as a cute and cuddly plush collectible but I think it might be better to simply wait for those in the merchandise department to take it on.)
Upon realizing that her boys are missing, Laurel teams up with The Manticore and they set out to find the children. Perilous curses aside, this one magical day could mean more than any of them ever dreamed. Directed by Dan Scanlon and produced by Kori Rae, Disney and Pixar’s “Onward” opens in theatres on March 5, 2020.
