Fall Fun at the Fort Langley Cranberry Festival

Posted on: October 13, 2014

In our family the Cranberry Festival has become synonymous with Thanksgiving.  This year we got ourselves sufficiently organized and managed to make the pancake breakfast before the real crowds descended.  The torrential downpour helped deter a few of the early morning keeners; if it is sunny next year we are

Vancouver continues to win awards. The BEST chocolate IN THE WORLD comes from Vancouver’s own Mink Chocolates. Their Mermaid Bar just won the top prize at the 2014 International Chocolate Salon in San Francisco. Competitors from around the world were bested by Vancouver’s very own! As I am a nut

Cars Galore at the Langley Cruise In

Posted on: September 7, 2014

The cars were plentiful and beyond impressive at the Langley Cruise In.  While the sun blazed down, thousands of people descended on downtown Langley.  By 10am huge crowds were gawking at cars from every possible era.  My favourite was the antique stock car section.  I’m sure my preference is due,

Tomatoes and Bees in Tsawwassen

Posted on: September 1, 2014

We went on a driving adventure this weekend and found ourselves in the far reaches of Tsawwassen, just past Boundary Bay.  What a lovely part of the Lower Mainland!  We had gone in search of the Earthwise Society’s Tomato Fest.  I’m so glad we went! Earthwise Society promotes sustainability through education and community

It can’t possibly be Fall, in our house, without multiple visits to Apple Barn Pumpkin Farm in Abbotsford.  We started this tradition before our eldest was even a year old.  Now with 2 boys in tow, aged nearly 4 & 6, we have an utter blast.  This is the first

What fun!  This weekend we took the boys on their first ever garage-sale exploration.  My husband and I haunted many flea markets and garage sales before we had children but have neglected this tradition in recent years. We crammed 3 kids and 3 adults into a car and went exploring.

Great Fun and a Gorgeous Night at the PNE

Posted on: August 23, 2014

A spur-of-the-moment decision resulted in a wonderful evening at the PNE.  We joined forces with our wonderful neighbours and took the kids to the PNE on a Friday night.  I expected utter chaos and overwhelming crowds…not so!  We had a glorious night filled with giggling kids, mini donuts, face painting,

Strawberries at Krause Berry Farms

Posted on: June 13, 2014

The sun has been generous and that means the strawberries are plentiful.  While today was a drizzly-Vancouver-special we bundled up and headed to the strawberry fields.  The plants are LOADED with perfectly ripe berries.  Very few were over ripe, the majority were perfectly ripe juicy red berries. Krause Berry Farms,

Must Do: Canopy Walk at UBC Botanical Garden

Posted on: June 11, 2014

Add the Greenheart Canopy Walkway at the UBC Botanical Garden to you bucket list. Talk about breath-taking beauty, fun family adventure and a little bit of education thrown in for good measure. We opted to have a guide for our time on the Greenheart Canopy Walkway. I would strongly recommend doing the same; the

Review: Toot Toot! Thomas is in Town

Posted on: June 7, 2014

The friendliest engine has arrived in Squamish.  Big thanks to the West Coast Heritage Railway Association for bringing everyone’s favourite little blue engine back to town. The Day Out with Thomas is so much more than the 25 minute ride on the big train.  While riding a real train is
