The Vancouver International Children’s Festival is running full force.  In addition to the fantastic concerts there are loads of activities to take part in: circus tent, face painting, magic shows, musical performers, arts & crafts and so much more.

We started our 2014 Kids Fest experience with Fred Penner…and it was a pj party.  I must say I was rather surprised that my husband and I, and one other mom, were the only adults in pjs.  Who doesn’t want an acceptable excuse to climb into jammies early?!

Many little ones were dressed up in their snuggly clothes.  They may have been dressed for bed but they were ready to party!  The floor in front of the stage quickly turned into a pint-sized mosh pit.  Fred Penner is a super-star children’s performer; no amount of chaos interrupted the flow of his performance.

The audience was treated to a number of new songs as well as the favourites from our childhood.  Many audience members were singing along to hits like: Sandwiches, Puff the Magic Dragon, The Cat Came Back, You Are My Sunshine and so many more.

The Vancouver International Children’s Festival runs all weekend long (closing June 1st) at Granville Island.  There are still tickets available for some performances.  We are going to the Variety Show tonight; I eagerly anticipate this event every year.  Watch for my review tomorrow.
