Are you seeking a slightly different performance experience for your child? One that provides amazing training, exercise and the chance to fall in love with singing, dancing, and acting? Looking for an experience that is light on parent-volunteer demands and eschews expensive costumes? Let me introduce you to Rockit Kids Performing Arts. A beloved company with a fantastic track record in Calgary has just moved into BC. As soon as word gets out about their simplistic approach to musical theatre teaching the classes will be full to the brim.

Rockit Kids Performing Arts has partnered with 2 studios to offer their classes in both Langley and North Vancouver. The classes offered in North Vancouver are open to children aged 5+. The Langley-based classes are available for kids aged 4+.

Rockit JNR (4 & 5 years)

Learning basic singing & dancing techniques plus the correct terminology is the emphasis for this level. Your child will learn the foundations of singing and dancing, as well as develop listening and teamwork skills. The music covered ranges from favourite Disney scores and other popular musicals to pop hits from Taylor Swift, One Direction, and the odd Spice Girls tune might just work its way into the rotation as well.

Rockit Kids Division 1 (6 – 9 years)

By learning a minimum of 2 groups dance & 2 group vocal numbers, your child will master basic dance steps and vocal skills. The musical genres covered in Division 1 are rock, pop, and musical theatre. The dance classes expose the students to jazz, hip hop, lyrical, and musical theatre.

Rockit Kids Division 2 (9 – 12 years)

The foundations established in Division 1 are built upon in Division 2. Increasingly complex dance routines and challenging vocal scores will be tackled. Students will learn skills relating to performance and audition techniques as well as introducing harmony and solo vocal work. The musical theatre numbers are selected from hits such as Hairspray, Grease, Annie, and age-appropriate Disney productions.

Rockit Teens (12+ years)

Students who are interested in developing or enhancing their musical theatre training are welcome. While Rockit Teens will continue to build upon the skills taught in Divisions 1 & 2, students with any level of experience are welcome to join. The dance routines will become more complex and the singing will offer increasingly challenging numbers.
