The machines are coming to life at Britannia Mine Museum this Halloween! Inspired by the real equipment used in historic and modern mining, playful Monster Machines help families discover the important jobs these mighty machines perform. Explore the Museum with a mischievous Halloween twist during the family-friendly Monsters, Machines & Mischief experience.
The mischief begins on the Underground Tour when the pesky monsters cause mayhem and malfunctions in the historic tunnel. Through hands-on problem-solving and live demonstrations from the Machine Operator, visitors will learn how compressed air, transportation systems, and, of course, teamwork kept the mine running smoothly. Keep the fa-BOO-lous experience rolling with the award-winning BOOM! attraction with your group, where Mill No. 3 roars to life in a multi-sensory light, sound, and special effects show.
The monsters are on the run and creating mischief wherever they go! Follow their mayhem through the museum and identify the real-life machines behind the monsters. Cranes, big trucks, drills, and other machinery were used in historic mining and still continue to be used today. Have a spook-tacular time matching each monster’s personality to the crane, big truck, drill, or other machinery they represent and learn about the role they play in historic and modern-day mining operations.
Continue prowling around Britannia Mine Museum with your little monsters as you complete a Scavenger Hunt through the exhibits highlighting key parts of mining operations and machinery, and then take a short break to complete some fa-Boo-lous Monster Machine colouring pages! The fun continues with live science demonstrations of Exploding Pumpkins and Magnetic Slime, to name a few. It’s a spook-tacular experience the whole family won’t soon forget!
