One of Calgary’s most beloved holiday traditions – Heritage Park’s Once Upon a Christmas – returns for 2016, running Saturdays and Sundays from November 19th through to December 18th. Don’t miss this chance to spend a magical day in the Heritage Park Historical Village and Gasoline Alley Museum, participating in charming and scenic old fashioned Christmas customs and traditions.
There’s so much to do during Once Upon a Christmas – wear your comfiest boots! Enjoy winter wagon rides, carol singing, and a visit with Old Saint Nick! You’ll also be able to take in gingerbread cookie decorating, children’s winter games, snow painting, Santa’s Christmas Critters petting zoo, a Christmas train display, Live Christmas Play in the Canmore Opera House, and much more. Many of the Historical Village’s family homes will open their doors to welcome you in from the cold so you can see how families spent Christmas during pioneer times.
The shops in the Haskayne Mercantile Block will also be open if you want to shop for some special holiday gifts and kids can shop under the supervision of helpful volunteers at the Kids Only shop in the village. They’ll be so excited to surprise you with something special under the tree. Don’t forget to swing by the candy store for a little advent treat!
See how much our family enjoyed Once Upon a Christmas two years ago. We’ll be attending again this year for sure… or I’ll be in big trouble with my kids!
Add a holiday meal to your special day! The Once Upon a Christmas Breakfast Buffet takes place on the same weekends, 9:30 am – 2:30 pm. This popular dining event usually sells out, so please be sure to book your tickets in advance.
