With something for everyone, from the tiniest dancer stepping into the studio for the first time to teens or adults wanting to challenge themselves with something new and satisfying, Alberta Ballet is the place to find joy in movement.
Alberta Ballet classes are part of Alberta Ballet Community, a division of Alberta Ballet, formalized in 2024. The professional company is celebrated for performances that move and inspire, but the Alberta Ballet Community’s reach extends beyond the stage. Alberta Ballet Community is training young dancers and opening doors for Albertans of all ages and backgrounds. They connect people to the joy and expression that dance makes possible, as they discover creativity, confidence, and connection.
Alberta Ballet Community offers recreational and dedicated dance programs for all ages and experience levels. From preschool to adult, beginner to advanced, you receive quality dance training in active, engaging classes. Plus, live music is at the heart of every class. A dedicated pianist allows teachers to fully engage with their students, just like professional company dancers. There’s nothing like dancing to live music! Enrolled students also receive exclusive discounts (up to 50%) for Alberta Ballet performances.
Alberta Ballet Community Classes
Alberta Ballet Community offers full or partial-year programs, with recreational winter classes beginning in February. Recreational classes require no previous experience, making it the perfect time for kids to try ballet!
Whether your child is taking their first movement class or adding ballet to supplement other activities, these classes let preschoolers and kids explore the fundamentals of ballet in fun and engaging ways. The inclusive and nurturing environment welcomes students of all ages and levels, fostering confidence, artistry, and joy through movement.
Preschool Classes
Young dancers from 3 – 5 years old can experience the joy of movement and music at a weekly preschool ballet class. Exploring creative movement and music, children develop coordination and an understanding of rhythm and musicality. The dedicated and experienced teachers promote teamwork and a structured routine while nurturing the students’ creativity and building self-esteem and confidence. These classes inspire the youngest dancers in a fun and engaging environment.
Children’s Classes
Students from 6 – 11 years can attend classes exploring movement and music while learning the fundamentals of dance. Dancers will develop poise, self-discipline, and musicality. They will build confidence in a safe and nurturing environment, and this program complements other activities or sports, perfect for those looking to enhance their posture, balance, and flexibility.
Teen Classes
Teen classes, for those ages 12 – 17, offer classes to teach ballet technique, explore music appreciation, and develop artistic expression. Recreation programs are perfect for teens looking to enhance their posture, balance, and flexibility. Or they’ll just have fun trying something new! Programs for more advanced dancers are also available. Plus, adults can join the fun with all levels of adult classes, too!
If you’re curious about dance, then register for the FREE Day of Dance on January 18, 2026! Children ages 3 – 8 are invited to try a free ballet class and meet the instructors. Then you can learn about the programs and register for the winter session. No experience is necessary on this day. Register children ages 3 – 5 here and register kids ages 6 – 8 here.
