Bert Church Live Theatre is a fully equipped, live performing arts facility in Airdrie, only a short drive from Calgary. The facility seats 377 people and offers audiences an intimate opportunity to experience world-renowned performers. The Heebee-jeebees: November 26, 2021

The Heebee-jeebees are an internationally acclaimed, award-winning, comic a cappella group born and raised in Calgary. Having celebrated over 25 years together, they have released eight CDs and have won three international CARA awards – the Grammys of a cappella. The Heebee-jeebees have sung thousands of live performances and have appeared on local, national, and international radio and television. The group has a reputation for being hilarious, entertaining, and extremely talented. They are the most FUN you’ve ever heard! 

The Sing-Along Sound of Music: December 11, 2021

The smash-hit musical show that has been all around the world and is now back at Bert Church LIVE Theatre! Sing-a-Long-a Sound of Music is a screening of the classic Julie Andrews film musical in glorious, full-screen technicolour, complete with subtitles so that the whole audience can sing along and free magic moments fun pack! Add to this the famous fancy-dress competition in which everyone who has come in costume is invited onto the stage to show off their fantastic tailoring skills. So get those vocal cords warmed up, cut up those chintz curtains and hurry down for the perfect night out. 

Ken Ludwig’s ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas: December 17 – 19, 2021

Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house, not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse. But wait! A mouse is stirring – because Santa missed his house last year. Before you can say “Merry Christmas!”, we’re off on the wild adventures of a mouse, an elf, and a spunky little girl who just won’t take no for an answer. “A grand Christmas adventure, filled with schemes, confrontations, mistaken identities, bravery, and all things naughty and nice. Don’t miss this joyful tribute to the holiday season, perfect for the whole family! 

The Very Hungry Caterpillar and Other Eric Carle Classics: February 9, 2022

Mermaid Theatre’s lively new compilation captures the magic of three Eric Carle classics. The hour-long triple-bill follows the adventures of The Very Hungry Caterpillar as he eats his way through an amazing variety of foods on his path to becoming a beautiful butterfly. The Mixed-Up Chameleon is bored with his life as he sits about changing colour all day until he takes a trip to the zoo. His hilarious attempts to emulate the beautiful animals he sees conclude with his discovery that there is value in his own unique self. The story of Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Did you See? has helped hundreds of thousands of toddlers to identify colours and creatures. Capturing the rhythmic text and beautiful tissue-paper collage illustrations of the classic picture book, Mermaid’s adaption generates a fresh appreciation of an endearing cast of characters. 

Quest Theatre’s Snow Angel: February 26, 2022

In a community where neighbours are disrespectful and uncaring, Angela tries her best to find belonging. When she becomes friendly with the Old Man next door, her brother Ethan, in defiance, makes a big mistake. Ethan wants to apologize but is afraid. Angela’s kind acts slowly lead her brother and the Old Man to forgiveness and true friendship. Performed through masks, movement and music, Snow Angel is a gentle story that confirms the benefit of living in community and how kind acts can have a positive effect on all of us. 

The Ugly Duckling: March 12, 2022

Semi-finalists on NBC’s America’s Got Talent, Lightwire Theater brings a classic tale to the modern stage in an unforgettable theatrical experience. Lined with electroluminescent wire, the beloved story of The Ugly Duckling plays out on stage through a cutting-edge blend of puppetry, technology and dance. With dazzling visuals, poignant choreography and the creative use of music ranging from classical to pop, this production brings this story into a new and brilliant light. 

Prairie Mountain Fiddlers: March 26, 2022

Back by popular demand! The Prairie Mountain Fiddlers will take you back to a time when fiddling was a part of every song that was performed in concerts, played in community halls and shared in kitchens and living rooms! Featuring an ensemble that fills the stage, these local musicians will have you stomping your feet and clapping along to memorable old-time fiddle tunes. 

Dufflebag Theatre Snow White: April 30, 2022

The Queen has always been the “fairest in the land.” Her Magic Mirror tells her so!

But when the Queen hears that Snow White has surpassed her, she’s willing to do whatever it takes to get rid of her…forever! Fortunately, Snow White escapes into the Deep Dark Woods where she chances on a tiny cottage. Little does she know that the Seven Dwarves living there will help save her! The classic story of our heroine as she encounters hapless huntsmen, bad apples, and little men with big hearts and short tempers, comes to life as Dufflebag helps Snow White towards her “happily ever after! 

One Man Star Wars: May 6, 2022

Canadian actor and uber-geek, Charles Ross, brings his solo madcap creation, One Man Star Wars Trilogy, to the stage in this mind-bending whirlwind of a show! Ross retells the classic bad hair trilogy in 60 minutes – no costumes, no props, no sets – ALL the characters, music, ships, and battles. If your kid’s name is Chewbacca, this show is a no-brainer. If not, get your nerd on and experience the global sensation loved by audiences from London’s West End, Off-Broadway, Dubai, the Sydney Opera House, Lucasfilm, and Charlie’s mom. The Force is strong with this one.

Seussical: the Musical: May 27 – 28, 2022

Now one of the most performed shows in America, SEUSSICAL is a fantastical, magical, musical extravaganza! The Cat in the Hat tells the story of Horton, an elephant who discovers a speck of dust that contains the Whos, including Jojo, a Who child sent off to military school for thinking too many “thinks.” Horton faces a double challenge: not only must he protect the Whos from a world of naysayers and dangers, but he must guard an abandoned egg left in his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird. Although Horton faces ridicule, danger, kidnapping, and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him. Produced in co-production with Nose Creek Players, SEUSSICAL is musical fun for the whole family!
