Calgary Gymnastics Centre (Family Fun Calgary)

Jump, pivot, swing! Gymnastics is a fabulous sport for developing basic physical literacy. The strength, coordination, flexibility, and body awareness that is central to gymnastics is a must for many other sports. Of course, children love to move, jump, and challenge their bodies in interesting ways anyway, making gymnastics a wonderful active choice! Calgary Gymnastics Centre is the largest gymnastics facility in Calgary, with a multitude of programs for your family. With two locations to choose from, in Canada Olympic Park and on Country Hills Blvd, it’s fun and convenient for kids to try out a wonderful all-around sport.

Calgary Gymnastics Centre offers classes for any age and any level (starting with crawlers!) at both their North and West locations. Everyone from babies to adults can enjoy the facilities and have fun challenging their bodies.

From three competitive disciplines, as well as adult, recreational and preschool programs, you’ll find a gymnastics program to suit your family. Whether you have a recreational athlete looking for a little fun and fitness, or an international athlete “Going for the Gold,” the Calgary Gymnastics Centre has it all!

The next age group is for children 4 to 6.5 years, and cardiovascular and muscular endurance, flexibility, and strength are incorporated. Your child will get to work on all gymnastics events including vault, bars, beam, floor, and air track. The program will also assist your child to develop social skills, self-esteem, commitment, and a sense of achievement in a fun, friendly, and safe environment.

CanGym and CanJump

Class options for CanGym and CanJump programs range for children 6 to 17 years.  These programs allow any child, ages 6 to 17, to work at their own level, mastering skills and earning badges from the progressional CanGym program set out by Gymnastics Canada.

InterClub

InterClub is an advanced recreational program which provides athletes with a solid foundation for gymnastics. Athletes ages 6 to 17 years enter the InterClub program through tryouts. InterClub athletes attend class twice per week and will have the opportunity to attend various fun meets throughout the year to perform routines. The Calgary Gymnastics Centre InterClub Program is unique to this club and consists of three gymnastics disciplines.

Women’s Artistic Gymnastics
Designed to teach athletes the strong basic skills and the proper technique which serve as the building blocks for acquiring more advanced skills. The Junior Olympic Program (JO Program) is used as a guideline for these groups.

Men’s Artistic Gymnastics
Designed to build strength, flexibility and coordination allowing athletes to progress in their skill development on each apparatus. These groups use Gymnastics Canada’s CanGym badges 1-12 and the AGF Provincial Boys Skill Development Programs as a guideline.

Trampoline and Tumbling

Emphasizes safety and strong basics on all trampoline events. The FAST program, CanJump, and T&T InterClub manual are used to guide the instruction on this program.

Each InterClub discipline consists of three levels: Junior, Intermediate and Senior. Athletes will be invited to move into the next level once they have acquired the skills at the current level. All coaches are trained through the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP).

So, keep jumping, flipping, and improving this winter! Let your kids discover the joy of movement and the wonder of what their amazing little bodies can accomplish at the Calgary Gymnastics Centre!
