Do your teens love movies? Get them started on making their own!! This spring break, the Calgary Society of Independent Filmmakers (CSIF) is hosting a five-day camp that will introduce youth (aged 13-17) to the filmmaking process. The lucky participants will learn the basics of taking a movie from script to screen in intensive, hands-on, collaborative workshops. This excellent introduction to the art of film production will see the teens writing, directing, shooting, and editing a film! Upon completion, the students’ film will be premiered at a gala screening at the CSIF, where participants, their friends and family and the public are invited to attend. How cool is that?!?

This camp will be led by Anna Cooley, who is a film producer, director and writer based in Calgary. Her multi-award winning feature documentary A Sauropod Abroad is currently making its way around the international festival circuit. Her short narrative film Sleepwalker was funded through STORYHIVE and released in February 2017. Anna’s production company Erratic Pictures specializes in short form documentaries but is branching out into other styles of filmmaking including the exciting new world of virtual reality. Anna has been a supervisor at YouthWrite, a writing and arts camp since 2008 and can’t wait to head up CSIF’s Spring Break Movie Camp!

Your teen movie buff will love a week spent on the other side of the movie screen – making the magic come to life! Register online ASAP.
