Winter is the perfect time to embrace the countless little things in life that bring about a sense of well-being and contentment, even through the darkest months. Things like reading a good book together, while snuggled in a blanket, a cup of hot cocoa, and the satisfaction that comes from music! Music is a positive, universal human experience, and learning to create our own music offers benefits that are wide-spread and long-lasting. Music can make you happier, lower stress, enhance coordination, and improve cognitive skills. Chinook School of Music, established in 2005, offers a fresh, modern approach to musical education that integrates the scientific research that supports the positive role that music has on brain development.
One of the Chinook School of Music flagship programs is Music Kids. Music Kids is an early childhood music program for young children ages 6 months to 5 years that realizes the advantage of the modern approach. The children are taught by teachers who have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Music Performance and who bring a refined level of expertise. They use grand pianos in their on-site classes (the only program to do that!), offering kids a unique exposure they may get nowhere else. Classes incorporate singing, movement, and instrument play, bringing kids a joyful and nurturing learning environment while developing fundamental skills.
If you want to explore beyond Music Kids, there are two brand-new programs at Chinook School of Music for those with young children!
Sing + Sign is a unique bonding experience for you and your infant (up to 12 months) as you discover the remarkable benefits of baby sign language and song. Over 250 baby signs are introduced through songs, enabling you and your child to communicate with joy and ease. Sign language for babies promotes early communication, aids in speech development, promotes visual and attention skills, and supports parents to feel more confident in their communication with their child.
If you have children aged 4 to 6, discover Music + Dance! This program is specially designed for children who possess a passion for singing and creative movement. Foundational music and theatre dance skills are developed in a fun and energized environment. This class is a perfect introduction to the wonderful world of musical theatre!
Students of all ages can dedicate themselves to private lessons in piano, voice, guitar, cello, flute, violin, drums, ukulele, and theory. Offering all styles and genres of music with highly-qualified instructors, any child, no matter the age or skill level, will happily progress as they learn and grow. These one-on-one lessons are available in the studio or in your home and run Monday to Friday after school and on Saturdays.
Chinook School of Music knows that learning should be fun, and when Chinook School of Music offers lessons in their studio or in your home or offers private or group lessons, it also makes life convenient for you. Do you have 2 or more children? They also have options that are helpful for families with classes of different age groups running simultaneously! Sign up soon; there is a 10-week session from January to March 2020 that is $199.
This winter, warm up with music! Help your kids discover the benefits of music, while they grow and develop their brain. And they’ll have a great time doing it!
