Go for a drive, and on a beautiful day in the Red Deer area, check out Discovery Canyon, with wonderful, outdoor water play. With a lazy river and a beach area, there’s something for everyone!

This free play area features:

  • natural river-fed bubbling pools of water
  • tube floating
  • trickling rivulets
  • a wading pool
  • accessible beach and boardwalk
  • picnic tables
  • concession
  • accessible washrooms
  • nature-themed playground

Admission is FREE, and you can rent tubes for $7. It’s a day filled with water play, summer sun, and family memories.

Note: Discovery Canyon gets VERY busy. See this article for tips for avoiding crowds. Effective August 8, 2026, parking will no longer be permitted along the entrance road. Once all designated parking lots reach capacity, Discovery Canyon will be considered full, and no additional visitors will be admitted.
