One of Calgary’s premier tourist attractions, Heritage Park is not only filled with unique activities and events throughout the year but is a place of learning where visitors of all ages can discover over 100 years of Western Canada’s history, explored through the many permanent exhibits and specialty exhibits that rotate throughout the year. With so much to see and explore, here are our top picks for family fun this long weekend at Heritage Park.
Discover Mad Modelers and Vintage Vehicles
Drive the vintage vehicle aficionados in your family wild with the multitude of model cars and trucks on display. From everyday family vehicles to timeless classics, there are so many to see and learn about. Plus, on February 15 & 16 from 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM, Mad Modelers of Alberta will bring their creations to life in Gasoline Alley. See their intricate models of classic cars, planes and more come to life with impressive precision.
Explore the Bison Exhibit
If you haven’t visited the popular Bison Exhibit, now is the time to do so! In addition to engaging with interactive displays to learn about the size, diet, and habitat of bison, there are several special events planned for Family Day. On February 15 & 16, learn about traditional Blackfoot tipis and how to identify their unique style, and take a special Exhibit Tour that invites visitors to walk in the footsteps of those who came before to learn about the impact of bison on their lives. From February 15-17, visitors can play traditional Indigenous games and create their own Buffalo Story Robe craft to take home and remember the visit.
Enjoy a Delicious Brunch
The Selkirk is a family favourite for brunch and free admission to Gasoline Alley is included with your meal. Fuel up at this must-try brunch spot that features classic breakfast foods that all ages will enjoy. Fluffy pancakes, crisp bacon, and fresh seasonal fruit await to complete a fabulous day of family, friends and good times exploring Heritage Park. Sunday Brunch runs from 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM every Sunday from February 2 – April 27 (excluding Easter).
