H/W School of Ballet Summer Camp Programs

Perfect your pliés and enjoy your jetés this summer, but most of all, just keep dancing! If you have a child or teenager who is hoping to continue their dance training through the summer, the H/W School of Ballet has summer camp programs just for them. Voted the 2023 Best Ballet School from Calgary Top Choice Awards, they will be offering junior and senior summer schools this August. Introduce your little dancer to their first plié or help older kids and teens become even more accomplished dancers; the combination of artistry and athleticism will fill your young dancer’s soul.

With individualized instruction and experienced dance teachers, H/W School of Ballet offers a satisfying and rewarding dance school experience. By challenging and cultivating each young dancer who walks through their doors, dancers are empowered and motivated to meet their goals. The Hattori/Williamson School of Ballet was founded by 3 former principal dancers, Yukichi Hattori, Galien Johnston Hattori and Tara Williamson Campbell. Their goal is to establish a new standard of dance instruction in Western Canada for all aspiring dancers, from those imagining their first pair of pointe shoes to those passionate about pursuing a professional career in ballet. They provide students with ballet and contemporary dance instruction of the highest quality, even in the summer.

The Summer Camp Programs offer Junior programs with various classes for dancers ages 5 to 10. They also offer Senior programs with a number of classes for dancers from ages 10 to 20.

Junior Summer School

The Junior Summer School, for children ages 5 – 10, runs August 8 – 12, 2023. Students in the Junior programs will learn the foundations of ballet. The dancers will also get to explore ballet stories, character dance, contemporary dance, and Progressing Ballet Technique (PBT), which is an innovative body-conditioning and strengthening program that has been designed to enhance a student’s technique. There will also be ballet stories and crafts to deepen a young dancer’s love and understanding of ballet. Children aged 5 – 6 attend from 9 am to 12 pm, and children ages 7 – 8 and 9 – 10 classes attend full days, from 9 am to 4 pm.

PD Summer Program – Senior

The PD Summer Program is for senior dancers from age 10 to post-graduate and runs Monday to Friday from August 14 – 25, 2023. At this level, the H/W School of Ballet offers a wider range of classes, including ballet, contemporary, and character dance. There will also be pointe, repertoire, and Progressing Ballet Technique (PBT). Dancers will not only be receiving the most valuable information and individual critique to help them succeed but will also develop precious friendships and share rewarding experiences.
