Camp Amicus  is a unique summer camp program designed specifically for children and youth with Learning Disabilities and/or ADHD. With the goal of creating a rewarding and successful summer camp for each child/youth, the camps provide a structured and supportive environment for children to learn social skills, build relationships and have fun! Mature, caring counsellors (3:1 camper:counselor ratio) plan activities specifically to ensure that campers build confidence and self-esteem, all while having a great time with their new friends.

Two options are available: day camps are based out of Foothills Academy in Calgary, or overnight camp at the beautiful Goldeye Centre in Nordegg AB. Financial assistance is available on a sliding scale basis. As an added convenience for families with FSCD funding, they are now able to direct-bill FSCD on your behalf.

Camp Amicus Day Camp

For children/youth ages 8-15. Day campers will have opportunities to learn and practice age appropriate social skills, peer relations & problem solving while having fun. Day camp activities may include swimming, horseback riding, mini golf, wall climbing, games, crafts & more!

In 2016, day camp is offered Monday-Friday, 9 am – 4 pm, during the following sessions:

  • July 26-Aug 5 (except Aug. 1), ages 8-12, $630 (9 days)
  • August 8-19, ages 8-12, $700 (10 days)
  • August 22-26 ages 10-15, $350 (5 days)

Complimentary before/after camp care is offered for half an hour on either side of the regular camp day.

 

Camp Amicus Overnight Camp

For children/youth ages 9-16. Overnight campers will enjoy a true camp experience! With the 3:1 camper:counselor ratio and qualified onsite health care staff, campers are (and feel) safe to explore such fun activities as horseback riding, canoeing, hiking, archery, wall climbing, games and campfires. Daily social skills lessons are incorporated into each day. And as with all Camp Amicus camps, they’ll do it in a structured, supportive, non-competitive environment.
Amicus overnight camps are held at the beautiful Goldeye Centre, west of Red Deer in Nordegg, Alberta; transportation to and from Calgary and Red Deer is provided.

In 2016, overnight camp is offered during the following 6-day sessions:

  • July 3-8, ages 10-14, $900
  • July 10-15, ages 9-12, $900
  • July 17-22, ages 12-16, $900
