What if your kids could learn real-life skills while having fun this summer? As a parent, it’s so satisfying to watch your child learn important, practical skills while they are having a great time! This summer, your kids can learn how to cook and create delicious recipes as they have a blast in the kitchen. Nini’s Cooking Class offers summer camps that allow kids to learn basic cooking skills, get creative in the kitchen, and enjoy tasty meals and good times. If they bring these skills home to you at the end of the week, everyone wins!
The goal of Nini’s Cooking Class is to equip and expose students to hands-on recipes from around the world. Young chefs, from ages 5 to 15 years, will learn about different global flavours, learn to cook and bake, and enjoy eating their own food! They will learn step-by-step how to prepare these meals and appreciate new foods, new flavours, and diverse cultures. Students will be working in a “real” setting, so they feel empowered to try these sweet and savoury recipes at home, too. These lifelong cooking skills will ignite creativity, build confidence and self-esteem, and most importantly, create memories that will last forever!
Summer camps at Nini’s Cooking Class will run 9 am – 4 pm, Monday to Friday, from July 3 to August 25, 2023, at TWO locations in Calgary. Before and aftercare, beginning at 8 am and ending at 5 pm are available for a fee. No experience is required and kids will learn skills from food safety and knife skills to meal planning and etiquette. They will learn how to bake, use the correct kitchen tools, and prepare dinner for a family. Their cooking techniques will include learning how to make dishes from all over the world and they’ll be excited to try things they’ve never imagined. Sharing food knowledge with kids enables them to create recipes on their own and also has a positive impact on their life-long eating habits, as well as their health.
What does your camper need to bring? A smile, a positive attitude, and a willingness to learn and have fun! It is also mandatory for all campers to purchase Nini’s Cooking uniform (chef coat, apron, and cut gloves) and you may want to send them with a takeaway container, in case there are leftovers after they eat their food. Don’t forget a labelled water bottle, and for kitchen safety reasons, please have them wear indoor closed-toe shoes only and have their hair tied back.
