Spring is the time for new life! That makes it the perfect time to celebrate the Grand Opening of The Shops at Buffalo Run. On June 7, 2024, bring your family and friends for a FREE afternoon of festivities, with entertainment that includes traditional dancing and drumming, music, tug-of-war, face painting, prizes, and more.
Located at Tsuut’ina Nation, The Shops at Buffalo Run are part of Taza, a collaborative development between Tsuut’ina Nation and Canderel. Taza combines industry experts with Indigenous participation and leadership, and this area is now home to over 30 tenants and offers a variety of shopping, dining, professional services, and more.
The afternoon of June 7, 2024, will pay tribute to the elders, artists, and community leaders who have contributed to bringing The Shops at Buffalo Run to completion. It will begin at 12 pm with an Elder blessing and smudge ceremony, followed by remarks from speakers and dignitary acknowledgements. There will be music from Tyler Twoguns and you can cheer for your favourite team in the Tosguna Police vs Tsuut’ina Nation Fire & Rescue Service tug-of-war competition! See the schedule here.
The theme of the event is “Blossom & Bloom,” inspired by the crocus. It has a special meaning for the Tsuut’ina Nation, as it marks the end of winter and a time for a new life cycle. Chief Roy Whitney of Tsuut’ina Nation shares, “For nearly five decades, attracting business to the Tsuut’ina Nation has been a top priority for our community. Our longstanding dream of developing a world-class project on our Nation’s lands has now become a reality. The grand opening of The Shops at Buffalo Run marks the successful completion of the initial phase of this endeavour, filling Tsuut’ina with immense pride.”
