For over 50 years, the Yamaha Music Program, developed by early-childhood psychologists, musicians and educators, has been an internationally renowned program for musical education.
One hallmark of the Yamaha Music Program is its focus on ear training. Because one learns about music from the recognition of sounds, ear training helps students become well-rounded musicians! In addition to ear training, the Yamaha Music Program offers a comprehensive curriculum to beginner students, including the development of listening, singing, rhythm, playing, ensemble playing and performance skills.
As an authorized Yamaha Music School, Sonata School of Music – in Calgary’s SW Bridlewood neighbourhood – offers beginner-level Yamaha group programs in general music, keyboard, piano, guitar, drums, violin, singing and vocals. Programs are available for kids aged 2 to 12.
Beginner classes are held in groups to mimic the school setting that most children are accustomed to, and to provide the comfortable, fun and motivating environment that results when kids of the same age and experience level learn together.
For more experienced musicians, Sonata also offers private lessons on a wide variety of musical instruments, plus voice and music theory.
