The holiday season is a time for family, imagination, and a little dose of magic. Every year, Theatre Calgary brings us A Christmas Carol, the classic holiday story that has warmed our hearts for generations and will bring a little magic to your every day. The story is a reminder to pay attention, be thankful for what and who we have, and reach out to others in compassion and companionship.

Theatre Calgary has been performing A Christmas Carol for 34 years (including online in 2020) and it has become a beloved holiday tradition for many families. In 2020, they reimagined this classic story as a filmed production, so that the tradition would not be missed. Through intimate multicharacter performances by a cast of three (including Stephen Hair, playing Scrooge, of course), they took audiences on a remarkable and inspiring journey of Ebenezer Scrooge, Tiny Tim and the spirits of Christmas Past, Present and Future.

For the 2021–22 season, Theatre Calgary will perform this three-person cast production live on stage. Patrons will also have the opportunity, if preferred, to choose Stafford Arima’s extended director’s cut of the online filmed version of A Christmas Carol, which they can watch from the comfort of their home.

On December 15, 2021, there will be an ASL-interpreted performance and on December 22, 2021, there will be a relaxed environment performance.

As Tiny Tim observed, “God bless us, every one!”
