December 10, 2021: What’s Up With Horns and Hooves
Alberta is home to many wild species, that sport horns, hooves or both! These characteristics are unique to Alberta’s ungulates- moose, elk, caribou, pronghorns, deer, bison, sheep and goats. Their hooves help them to travel on hard, rocky or snowy terrain. Their horns and antlers are used for defence and to find a mate. Ungulates are year-round residents in our province. Visit investigation stations hosted by volunteers and partner organizations to learn more about Alberta’s wild ungulates.
