July is here! Let the summer begin! July is packed full of exciting events and festivals in HRM. We start the month off with a bang, celebrating Canada’s birthday on July 1st, and then the summer festivals come alive. Check out all that’s happening this month!

🆓Canada Day Events | July 1, 2026
There are tons of events around HRM to celebrate Canada’s birthday. Whether you are looking for an early morning event or want to celebrate until the wee hours, from pancakes and music to water fun and fireworks, there is something for everyone!
🆓Sackville Community Days | July 1 – 4, 2026
Sackville Community Days is a community, family-oriented celebration organized around Canada Day. Some of the activities include the parade at 9 am on July 1st, a Teddy Bear Picnic in the afternoon on July 1st, and the fireworks on July 4th at 10 pm.
Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo | July 1 – 5, 2026
It’s the family show of the summer! Celebrate all things Nova Scotian at the Tattoo—and enjoy talented performers from across the Atlantic as Germany, the Netherlands, Norway and the United Kingdom join us for HARMONY!
Maritime Fiddle Festival | July 3 & 4, 2026
Get ready for some toe-tapping fun at the annual Maritime Fiddle Festival – Canada’s longest-running old-time fiddle festival and competition.
🆓The Halifax Mural Festival | July 4-11, 2026
This multi-day event takes place on Quinpool Road and the Halifax Waterfront. See artists from near and far add splashes of colour and bring life to blank walls. Check it out for activities, family fun, street entertainers, music and much more.
Shakespeare by the Sea | July 4-August 30, 2026
This summer, see Atlantic Canada’s longest-running outdoor theatre festival, Shakespeare by the Sea! The 2026 season includes the world premiere of the new family musical Beauty and the Beast: The Fairy-Tale Game-Show Musical, a bold new staging of Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar and the one-night-only, must-see event: The Unrehearsed Hamlet.
🆓Gottingen Street Festival | July 11, 2026
The annual Gottingen Street Festival is set for July 11, 2026. Gottingen Street between Cogswell and Buddy Daye Street will be lined with vendors and activities, so you can stroll down the street and take in the sights of the north end.
🆓East Coast Kite Festival | July 11-12, 2026
Fly as high as you can at the annual East Coast Kite Festival at the Halifax Citadel. If you’re looking for family fun that promises excitement, beauty and a touch of magic, look no further than the East Coast Kite Festival, hosted by the Atlantic Kite Festival.
🆓AFRIFEST: African Festival of Arts and Culture | July 16-19, 2026
The African Festival of Arts and Culture showcases the unique cultural heritage and artistic works of people of African descent living in Nova Scotia. Follow the drum beat down to the Halifax waterfront to join in the weekend fun.
Halifax Pride Festival | July 16-26, 2026
The annual Halifax Pride Festival boasts some of the best events in the city, with TONS of events for kids and families. This 10-day festival hosts many FREE events for all ages. Find out about the Pride Parade here.
🆓Nova Multifest | July 24-26, 2026
Celebrate Nova Scotia and beyond at the annual Multifest at Alderney Landing! Nova Multifest is a celebration of culture and diversity, showcasing music, art, displays, and a variety of delicacies from diverse cultures.
🆓Halifax Busker Festival | July 29 August 3, 2026
The Halifax Busker Festival is back for another summer! Electrifying performers will take to multiple stages during this festival for incredible international and local performances. A full schedule of events will be available on their website.
