Barney’s Outdoor Adventure Park: Unplug, Explore, and PLAY

This was a land where dinosaurs roamed … and nothing inspires the imagination quite like a visit to Alberta’s Badlands! For years, the Royal Tyrrell Museum in Drumheller has been a destination for families and their young dinosaur lovers. Now there’s even more reason for Calgary families to spend a day in the Drumheller area, with Barney’s Outdoor Adventure Park. This summer, it’s time to unplug, explore, and PLAY!

Barney’s Outdoor Adventure Park is Drumheller’s largest recreational destination, offering a wide range of activities across 27 acres. The Park first opened in 2020 and is located only minutes away from the Royal Tyrrell Museum. They offer RV parking and plenty of capacity for visitors to spread out and enjoy, plus loads of fun and activities for families of all ages.

“This year, we’re welcoming new additions to the park, including a mega tube slide, enhanced food options, onsite hop-on train service and exciting daily programs like pig racing,” says Ryan Semchuk from the Park. “We’re honoured to be a place where families and people of all ages can make memories to last a lifetime while celebrating Drumheller’s rich agriculture, mining and paleontology history.”

Outdoor Fun

This summer, plan an unforgettable adventure at Barney’s Outdoor Adventure Park. Burn some energy in Boomtown, a play area inspired by the mining history of the Drumheller Valley. Run, jump, swing, slide, and glide! Then head to the Barnyard and celebrate the agricultural history of Alberta. Lose yourself in the corn maze, take the perfect picture in the sunflower and pumpkin patches, and cheer on the piglets in Ma Gilbert’s Mini Pig Races. Of course, you’ll want to visit the goats, chickens, cows, and horses, too. You can even say hi to the alpaca. But don’t forget the dinosaurs! Head out for an animatronic dinosaur walk and let your imagination run wild.

Barney’s is open daily from 9 am – 5 pm from June 29 – September 4, 2023. The park is fully licensed and is also welcoming a new stage and saloon for live entertainment this season. You might even want to consider a Barney’s season pass. A season pass will give you unlimited admission, a 10% discount for all food services and the gift shop, and access priority to special events like Dinosaurs After Dark.
