Does your child enjoy swimming? Do they also want to try dance and gymnastics? Then you’ll want to take a look at artistic swimming — a sport that combines it all! The Calgary Aquabelles summer camps offer artistic swimming to girls and boys who love to swim, enjoy music, and like dance or gymnastics. It fosters fun and friendships as the swimmers learn skills together while supporting one another’s progress.
Artistic swimming, formerly known as synchronized swimming, is a hybrid form of swimming, dance, and gymnastics, consisting of swimmers performing a routine of elaborate moves in the water, accompanied by music. It is a fun sport that develops self-confidence, friendships, strong teamwork, and athleticism.
There is no better place to learn artistic swimming than from the Calgary Aquabelles. With over 50 years of artistic swimming excellence (including producing a number of world and Olympic champions!), the Aquabelles coaches are some of the best in the sport and the Club prides itself on teaching proper technique and fundamentals to ensure your child reaches their personal best. All Aquabelles coaches are former artistic swimmers who have a passion for the sport and understand that kids learn best when they’re having fun and being challenged!
The Calgary Aquabelles are a competitive club but they believe in fostering the love of artistic swimming by offering a variety of programs to fit every need, including a summer camp for anyone who wants to get their ‘feet wet’ in the sport, so to speak.
All beginners are invited to try out the Aquabelles and the artistic swimming summer camps. Aquabelles has partnered with the MNP Community & Sport Centre (formerly Repsol) for these camps; coaches are from the Aquabelles and registration is done through MNP Sport Centre, a popular Calgary facility known for it’s high-level of sport training. Campers ages 6 – 12 years old are invited to this fun and engaging program that will highlight the basic skills of artistic swimming. This camp promotes fitness, team spirit, dedication, and goal setting. Maybe your child will discover a passion for this unique sport!
No experience is necessary, but swimmers must be comfortable swimming independently in deep water and be able to swim 25-metres without assistance. Choose from four different weeks: July 4 – 8, July 18 – 22, August 8 – 12, and August 15 – 19, 2022. Camp days run from 8:30 am – 4:30 pm, and pre- and post-care is available for purchase, beginning at 7:30 am and ending at 5:30 pm.
The goal of every Aquabelles summer camp is to develop a love of the sport while teaching the foundational skills, in a fun and engaging manner. Register soon to reserve your spot, because this summer, it’s time to hit the pool!
