Head downtown this Canada Day and join the Calgary Public Library for free Canada Day activities at Central Library! From 12 – 4 pm, you’ll find refreshments, games, film screenings, and crafts. There’s something for everyone to enjoy!
Check out The Big Borrow Book, where adults and families can get personalized reading recommendations, family storytime featuring a special guest, Indigenous crafts, games and movies, musical performances, and lots of opportunities to be artistic, from zine-making to art therapy. The first 500 people to check out books get a special gift!
Join us in the Shaikh Family Welcome Gallery at noon for opening remarks by Library Board representatives, Elder Adrian Wolfleg, and Calgary’s Poet Laureate Wakefield Brewster, followed by storytime with a special guest.
Spin the wheel and win a prize from our friends at the Library Store. Build a zine with Nicole Gruszecki, visit our selfie station, and consider what the land you live on means to you with activities from Sage and Cedar Art Therapy.
Play Giant Jenga, build papercrafts, watch an animated film about Indigenous ways of knowing, and play traditional Treaty 7 games.
Learn traditional Indigenous beadwork and game with friends on the Nintendo Switch.
After your visit, don’t forget to check out other Canada Day celebrations around the city, including the Fort Calgary Indigenous Showcase, performances on St. Patrick’s Island, and music and fireworks at Olympic Plaza.
All other Library locations, besides Rocky Ridge, are closed on July 1.
