Tips and disclaimers!

The parade is fun, but it is also very busy and crowded. Unless you get there very early, you will be standing, so younger children will get tired and antsy.  In fact, even if you get there early, they may be antsy after a long (potentially chilly) wait, so be forewarned.

Take the bus or train downtown. The streets into downtown shut down usually by 7:30 am so traffic backs up and there is very limited parking.

It’s usually cooler in the morning, so dress in layers and wear comfortable shoes. They say it doesn’t rain on the Stampede Parade, but Mother Nature isn’t always predictable in these parts, so check the weather before you head out!

Snacks are always a good idea, but please remember to carry out your garbage.

Try to limit your fluid intake, unless dehydration is a concern.  If you move to find a bathroom, you may not get back to your seat.  However, if it ends up being a hot morning, make sure you stay hydrated!  Sunstroke is worse than losing your seat. Wear a hat (preferably of the cowboy variety) and don’t forget your sunscreen.
