Don’t let summer slip away! RBC Race for the Kids is coming back to Heritage Park on September 13, 2026, for a full day of outdoor fun for the whole family. More than a race, this is a community celebration that brings together families, friends, runners, walkers, volunteers, and supporters to make a difference for kids. It’s all in support of child and youth mental health!
This beloved run/walk, celebrating its 10th anniversary, has grown into a family favourite, as it raises funds for vital mental health programs through the Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation. Mental health challenges often begin during childhood and adolescence, making early access to care and support critical for children, teens, and families in our community. Plus, it’s become an unofficial goodbye to summer at Calgary’s favourite Historical Village, with activities both inside and outside Heritage Park!
Race for the Kids
Whether you’re running, walking, strolling with little ones, or just soaking in the atmosphere, there’s something for all ages and abilities! Participants can choose a scenic 6-km route along the Glenmore Reservoir, with its stunning views. Or you can opt for a shorter 1.7-km route inside Heritage Park, perfect for families with young children or strollers. Plus, staggered start times help keep things stress-free.
Grab a cup of coffee or hot chocolate and a snack before the race, and hydrate at the halfway point. Then, head into Heritage Park for a pancake breakfast and more fun for everyone after you cross the finish line. There will be games, face painting and more, and you can enjoy all the Park has to offer all day long!

Adult registration is just $45, youth $35 (ages 3–17), and kids two and under are free. It’s a full day of fun valued at more than $80.
Fundraise to Make a Real Impact
Upon registration, each participant receives a personal fundraising page to rally friends and family for support. This participant fundraising is what really makes a difference for kids and families, as registration fees only help cover the cost of the Race. There will be draws and cool prizes for participants and fundraisers, and watch for the chance to have donations matched, too!
Since 2017, participants, donors and sponsors have helped raise more than $4.1 million for child and youth mental health initiatives through the Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation. These funds supported the creation of The Summit: Marian & Jim Sinneave Centre for Youth Resilience, Calgary’s first community-based mental health centre for young people. It continues to fund programs, services, and research that improve access to mental health care. This year’s race will help fund enhanced, wraparound mental health supports for young people, including art, music, horticultural and recreational therapy, peer support, and social work.
