Fred Couples, winner of the 2014 Shaw Charity Classic, is returning to the Canyon Meadows Golf and Country Club in Calgary to defend his title, and golf fans could win an opportunity to meet him and watch the tournament in style! Test your golf skills in the Shaw Chip ‘n’ Putt Challenge, and you just might find yourself walking inside the ropes with the World Golf Hall of Fame member and watching the weekend tournament action from a Sky Box.

Golf fans will remember that Couples won last year’s tournament after a career-best final round 61 that included a chip-in eagle on the 54th hole. Talk about phenomenal edge-of-your-seat golf… now let’s see if we can recreate the excitement in downtown Calgary!

Here’s how the Shaw Chip ‘n’ Putt Challenge works:

  1. Golfers of all ages and skill levels are invited to visit a specially designed [temporary] golf course in downtown Calgary during the qualification rounds (dates and times listed below). Located at 239 Stephen Avenue SW, the course is modeled on the closing holes of the Canyon Meadows Golf and Country Club, home of the Shaw Charity Classic; participants attempt to prove their golf prowess in three putting holes and one chip contest.
  2. The top scorer of each day, plus the next three runners-up from the qualification round, all advance to the semi-finals on August 5.
  3. The top two aggregate scorers from the semi-finals advance to the final round. And this is where it gets really exciting…
  4. With Fred Couples in attendance, the two finalists go head-to-head in a chip off on Thursday, August 6 at 8:30 am on the 18th hole at Canyon Meadows Golf and Country Club. This is where Couples’ made his thrilling eagle chip-in last year. One lucky golf fan will be the ultimate champion!

Here’s what’s up for grabs:

  • 8 Semi-Finalists: a prize pack including signed memorabilia and the choice of a TaylorMade putter or wedge.
  • Champion: Sky Box passes on the 18th hole for the weekend, and an honourary observer spot with Fred Couples.

The Shaw Charity Classic will host some of the greatest names in the game of golf in Calgary at the Canyon Meadows Golf and Country Club, August 5-9, 2015. The field, which will consist of 81 stars on the Champions Tour, will compete for US $2.35 million in a three-round, 54-hole stroke-play tournament.

Tickets are available online, and it’s worth noting that youth aged 17 and under are admitted free with a ticketed adult. Take a young golf enthusiast with you – you’ll have the perfect excuse to spend an exciting day watching pro golf, live!
