What does show jumping have in common with outdoor movie nights, live music, face painting, corgi races, shopping, and more? We know! It’s all part of EPIC Weekends at Spruce Meadows! With affordable family fun (kids under 8 are free!) and a day in the summer sun, these events running alongside the world-class show jumping tournaments at Spruce Meadows can’t be beat. You don’t need to know anything about horses or equestrian events, and you’ll be hooked by a fabulous family day.
Founded in the 1970s, Spruce Meadows is an internationally-renowned sports and entertainment district on the south edge of Calgary. The gorgeous grounds spread over 500 acres, and they host top-tier show jumping tournaments throughout the year. But they are so much more than show jumping, world-class though it is. For the bigger tournaments, Spruce Meadows also offers an affordable destination for families to experience a wonderful, magical day.
EPIC Weekends
Every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday during tournaments in June and July are EPIC Weekends and absolutely packed with family fun! You won’t even know where to begin!

- Pan-American: June 27 – 29, 2025
- North American: July 4 – 6, 2025
These EPIC Weekends have live music, food vendors, and unique shopping. You’ll find the Prairie Dogs Agility Training, Duck Herding, Corgi Races, Hobby Horse Competitions, and the Strathcona Mounted Troop Musical Ride on the Deloitte Demo Ring. The Kids’ Zone is open on Saturdays and Sundays with face painting, Pinnovate crafts, pony rides, bouncy castles, and a mini train. Friday nights are for Movies at the Meadows. Come at 5 PM for the family movie, stay for a movie the adults and big kids will enjoy at 7 or 7:30 PM.
Oh, and of course, through the whole weekend, you’ll be amazed by the world-class show jumping!
All this entertainment is available with a General Admission ticket. Tickets are $5 (+fees) for kids 8 – 12, and free for children under 8. Tickets for ages 13 and up are $15 (+fees). Your ticket includes all the family fun, general admission seating for show jumping, and free parking.
