Over Thanksgiving weekend, my family and I decided to check out the Rosetown Harvest Festival. My parents live in the area and I’ve always wanted to take my son. We drove up to Rosetown on Saturday, October 7 to see all the fun. It was on all weekend. We weren’t sure what to expect but the day was a huge success. From the parade to the food to the activities, we were having a blast.

My mom, son and I headed to the main street to see the parade after parking. It seemed like all the businesses in town took part and there were some great floats. My kid loved almost every float. People were on horses and stopped so the kids could pet them. They had mascots, huge trucks with big horns, a tow truck towing a tow truck towing a tow truck and the Super Dogs!

Petting Zoo

Usually, if there is a petting zoo, my son is happy. I am as well. He got to cuddle with rabbits, pet all sorts of animals and watch a bee hive. They had food for the kids to feed the animals as well.

Bouncy Castles

With a donation to the food bank, the kids were given wristbands for access to all the kid’s activities. After a wonderful lunch (they had food trucks and burgers to choose from), we got in line for the bouncy castles. This was the go-to for most of the kids and they loved it. Luckily, my son was happy with just one wait in line. We had time to do a little bit of shopping before moving on to our next activity. They also had a wonderful market full of goods and crafts that we wandered through.

North Saskatchewan Regiment Pipes and Drums

We were really excited to see the North Saskatchewan Regiment Pipes and Drums stop in front of us and play in the afternoon. It was one of my son’s favourite parts of the day.

Spots for photos

We ended our day with a few photos and a play for the kids. It was interactive but I’m not sure they quite knew how interactive my son would be. He was constantly trying to help the detective in the play, even when he wasn’t asked. The day was a success and we were thrilled to have beautiful weather while we were out adventuring. Make sure to check out this annual event next year!
